INFORMATION
FOR APPLICANTS
Please read this information
before you fill out the form
The
Palmerston North Community Arts Council distributes Creative
Communities New Zealand funding on behalf of Creative New
Zealand and the Palmerston North City Council. Funding is
available from the Community Arts Council on a monthly basis.
Grants of up to $2000 are given. Application forms
must reach the Community Arts Council by 4pm on the 20th
of each month.
Creative
Communities New Zealand grants from $500 to $5000
are given by the Palmerston North City Council, who hold two
funding rounds per year. Please contact the Palmerston North
City Council on 356-8199 for information.
The
purpose of the Creative Communities New Zealand scheme is
to increase access and participation in the arts by supporting
local arts activity.
Any
group, organisation or individual may apply for support under
this scheme. Projects that may be considered will:
be arts and cultural projects
take place within the district to which application is made
and/or produce benefits which are largely experienced within
that district (for example, the activity primarily draws its
participants from within that district, or participants from
that district travel to and benefit from events which take
place in another district)
have not commenced before the date when the funding decision
will be made
have not already received funding through Creative New Zealand
or the Creative Communities New Zealand Scheme
include school based activities that could not be reasonably
expected to be covered by the school's own resources, particularly
where there is wider community involvement or benefits outside
the school.
Please
complete one application form per project. If you need help
please contact the Community Arts Manager, at the Palmerston
North Community Arts Council, Room 107 Square Edge, phone
(06)353-2800 / fax (06)353 2801, email: manager@pncac.org.nz
Please fill in your application
with black ink (or type it). We photocopy the applications
and clarity is important.
If you
receive funding through the Creative Communities New Zealand
scheme, you must report on how you spent the funding.
First
check your eligibility
Will the project increase community participation in the arts?
Will the project increase community interest in the arts?
Will the project enhance or strengthen local arts structures?

TIPS FOR APPLICANTS
Carefully read the criteria - identify where you fit in.
Check your budget! Make it reasonable and realistic. Add
it up correctly - ask for help.
Identify your group's contribution towards the project
- if a contribution is not possible, give reasons.
As contact person for the application, identify your role
in the group or organisation applying for the
funding.
Make sure you know what type of funding is needed (grant/loan/GAL
combination?).
Indicate the consequence for the project if you do not
receive the requested funding. Consider the minimum
needed for project success.
