Flyers
Small
versions of the posters can be photocopied and placed as flyers
in cafes and galleries around town. You
can also hand out flyers at other events
prior to yours especially if you think the same people would
be likely to come to your event.
If you've
got a little more cash to spend you could put an ad in the
newspaper or on the radio. This can be expensive, however
the newsmedia may subsidise your costs, in return for being
listed as a sponsor at your event.
For
those with larger budgets, regional TV advertising or getting
a flyer distributed in a local newspaper may be options to
consider. Speak to other event organisers to find out what
worked well for them, before parting with your hard-earned
cash.
Lots
of people round the Manawatu have done this stuff before and
would love to share their advice. These include:
- The City Council who have experienced events
staff
- The Palmerston North Community Arts Council
- Feilding and Districts Art Society
- Manawatu Promotional Trust
- Creative Sounds (for gigs)
- Destination Manawatu
- Feilding Promotions
- Venue Managers - if your event is being
held at a venue, ask the venue manager if there is anything
they can do to help you.
