About Art Trail Manawatū

Art Trail Manawatū, proudly presented by Square Edge Community Arts, is a celebration of creativity across Manawatū, Rangitīkei and Horowhenua.
Taking place on 17–18 October 2026, the Trail invites you to explore artists' studios, discover original artworks, meet the makers behind them, and experience the diversity of our region's creative community.
Trail Mix Exhibition
Begin your Art Trail journey at the Trail Mix Exhibition, opening on Friday 2 October 2026 at Square Edge Community Arts.
Featuring work from all the participating artists, this exhibition is the perfect introduction to Art Trail, helping you discover the artists and studios you'd like to visit during the Trail weekend.
While you’re at Square Edge pick up a Trail Guide and start planning your route.
The Trail Guide, includes everything you need to plan your visit, including studio locations, artist profiles, artwork previews, maps, and contact information.
There will be printed copies available from Square Edge for $2, or you can download it for free online.
Open Studios
During the Art Trail weekend, artists open the doors to their studios from 10am–4pm on both Saturday and Sunday, offering an opportunity to step inside their creative spaces. Meet the artists, learn about their practice, watch demonstrations, and purchase original artwork directly from the makers.
Entry to all studios and creative spaces is free.
Square Edge Arts Centre also becomes a vibrant hub during the weekend, with resident artist studios open, live demonstrations, and plenty of creativity to explore.
Art Trail Workshop Series
Throughout October, participating artists will host a range of free or heavily subsidised workshops, giving you the chance to try new creative skills!
