Art has always been a defining aspect of my life. I had the opportunity of studying art at Auckland University of Technology in the 1990s and graduated with a BVA. I describe myself as a “figurative painter” in that I am always striving to portray my work classically using oil as my main medium and painting on a linen or canvas support. When I returned to Palmerston North from Auckland, I was fortunate to obtain a studio space at Square Edge, where I have been painting for the last 7 years. I haven very influenced by classical Dutch flower painting and also by the elusive challenge of portraiture.
