Marcus Ingley

In my work, I am inspired by geometry, symmetry and the way mathematics can be used to create beautiful patterns and forms. My medium of choice is hot shop blown glass following the Swedish style of graal. The spare time created in the lockdown led me to developing tessellation patterns for later use in glass, then I decided to present them in a two-dimensional format. These girih images, recreations of Persian decorative patterns, originate as digital art. The image moves from the digital space to the physical by translation in to framed, cut adhesive vinyl.
