This exhibition refers to the theme of water shortage. In some parts of the world this is already a reality and has the potential to become much more widespread.
The paintings show figures searching for green space and water sources. Some show scenes of dry hills, salt flats and desiccated landscapes.
The picture of “Figure Through the Window” could perhaps show a tentative approach to climate change.

Print Making to Nourish | Kate Sione

My work is inspired by the Pacific Islands. I have always loved the lush, tropical landscape of the islands and a lot of my prints reference the botanical plants of the Pacific. All the images in this exhibition is sourced from our trips back to Samoa and also Fiji when we did a stopover trip there. This exhibition considers the importance of food in Samoan culture; it represents bringing agia (family) together as well as preserving and growing food from the Pacific.

Liminal Femininity | Jessica Philbrick

Jessica is a Manawatu-based artist working with constructs of femininity through domestic spaces. The spaces employ elements of liminality and make use of a feminine colour pallet to explore ambivalence of femininity in transitional home- environments. Many of the space are of personal significance or experience as a representation of everyday thoughts and emotions of a young woman’s sense of domestic space and relationship to home. The spaces are typically empty to allow for viewer projection of their own memories with domestic spaces.
